The management of Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti has reached out to vulnerable children in Ekiti State through a humanitarian visit to an orphanage home and correctional centre, donating food items and offering words of encouragement to the children.

Representing the Rector of the institution, Engr. Dr. John Temitope Alake, the Deputy Rector, Dr. Michael Akinola, led the outreach alongside the Registrar, Mrs. Folashade Akintola, Barrister Tosin Babalola, and representatives of the non-academic staff union to Erelu Adebayo Children’s Home and the Government Correctional Centre.
During the visit, the management donated bags of rice, cartons of noodles, and other relief materials to about 50 children at the orphanage and 15 children at the correctional centre. The atmosphere turned lively as the children welcomed the visitors with songs, dancing, and prayers in appreciation of the gesture.
Speaking on behalf of the Rector, Dr. Michael Akinola said the outreach formed part of the institution’s commitment to humanitarian service and social responsibility, noting that Engr. Dr. Temitope Alake had consistently shown concern for vulnerable people since assuming office.
He explained that the Rector strongly believes in giving back to society and supporting children facing difficult circumstances, adding that the Polytechnic would continue to identify with people in need through regular interventions and assistance.
Dr. Akinola urged the children to remain disciplined, take their education seriously, and never allow their present condition to limit their dreams. According to him, every child still has the opportunity to become successful and achieve greatness in life through determination and hard work.
Reacting to the gesture, officials at both centres appreciated the management of the institution for remembering the children and showing them love and care. One of the children at the orphanage also offered prayers for the Rector and the management team for their kindness and support.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the visit, Dr. Akinola described Rector Engr. Dr. John Temitope Alake as a compassionate leader with a strong passion for community development, stressing that society must continue to support vulnerable children because government alone cannot meet all their needs.
