The Ekiti State Executive Council has approved several major policy initiatives and development projects aimed at strengthening governance, improving infrastructure, and promoting sustainable socio-economic growth across Ekiti State.

The approvals were made during the council’s second meeting, where members considered a range of strategic proposals designed to enhance public service delivery and accelerate development in the state.
One of the major decisions taken by the council is the approval of a law to establish the Office of the Surveyor-General of the state. The proposed legislation, which will be forwarded to the Ekiti State House of Assembly for consideration, will provide a legal framework for regulating land surveying activities and strengthening land administration across the state.
Under the proposed arrangement, a qualified and registered surveyor within the state civil service will be appointed as Surveyor-General upon the recommendation of the Head of Service. The official will serve as the accounting officer of the new office and will receive salaries and benefits equivalent to that of the Statistician-General in the state public service, a move expected to improve professionalism and coordination in land management.
The council also approved the implementation of the Ekiti State Statistical Master Plan for the period 2025–2029. The five-year framework is designed to strengthen the state’s statistical system, improve the quality and availability of official data, and support evidence-based planning and decision-making in line with the state development plan, national statistical strategies, and global development targets.
According to the council, the statistical plan will enhance coordination among ministries, departments and agencies, promote data sharing, and improve the recruitment and retention of skilled statistical personnel. It will also introduce mechanisms for better data management, monitoring, and evaluation to support development planning and governance across the state.
In the education sector, the council approved the rehabilitation of critical infrastructure at government special schools affected by erosion. The intervention covers the reconstruction of damaged drainage systems and walkways at the Government Special School in Ido-Ekiti as well as major drainage and culvert construction at the Government Special School for the Deaf in Ikoro-Ekiti, with the projects expected to improve safety and learning conditions for students with special needs.
The council further approved the renovation of the Ekiti State Liaison Office complex located at Suez Crescent in Abuja. The facility, which represents the state government in the Federal Capital Territory, will undergo major rehabilitation to restore its operational efficiency and maintain the image of the state government in the nation’s capital.
To strengthen administrative efficiency, the council also approved the construction of a modern e-Office and conference hall for the Bureau of Public Procurement. The project is expected to provide a more conducive working environment for staff while serving as an alternative venue for official meetings and inter-agency engagements among government institutions.
In the sports sector, the council approved additional works for the ongoing reconstruction and remodeling of the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado-Ekiti. There extra works include additional spectator seats, a hostel facility, new administrative buildings, multipurpose sports courts, and improved stadium lighting, all aimed at upgrading the facility to meet national football league standards.
The council also approved several other development initiatives, including the renewal of a bank guarantee for the 3MW independent power plant project, renovation of public secondary schools affected by rainstorm damage, construction of buildings at the Gede Farm Settlement, and the approval of over ₦6.29 billion for the rehabilitation of key township roads in Ado-Ekiti to improve traffic flow and stimulate economic activities across the state capital.
