Tinubu Seeks Oyedele Confirmation as Minister, Abe as NUPRC Chairman

The nomination was contained in a letter read during plenary on Tuesday by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio.

According to the letter, Oyedele’s nomination is to replace the current Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anite, as part of ongoing adjustments within the Federal Executive Council of Nigeria.

Before his nomination, Oyedele served as chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, where he coordinated efforts aimed at reforming Nigeria’s tax administration system.

In a separate correspondence, President Tinubu also requested the Senate to confirm former lawmaker, Magnus Abe, as chairman of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission.

The nomination followed the reported resignation of the commission’s former chief executive, Gbenga Komolafe.

The president equally nominated Paul Yaro Jezhi and Sunday Adebayo Babalola to serve as non-executive commissioners in the regulatory agency.

Jezhi is a former chairman of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria in Kaduna State, while Babalola previously served as a deputy director at the defunct Department of Petroleum Resources.

After the letters were read at plenary, Senate President Akpabio referred the nominations to the Senate Committee on Petroleum Upstream for further legislative consideration.
