Convicted Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, has sparked fresh debate after alleging that the sexual assault case that sent him to prison was a deliberate setup against him.
The actor made the claim in a recently released song titled “Eniwaye Daran,” published on his YouTube channel on Thursday, where he recounted his account of the events that led to his arrest and eventual conviction.

In the music track, the comedian popularly known as Baba Ijesha accused fellow entertainer Damilola Adekoya of luring him to her home under the pretext of offering him a film role and inviting him for a meal.
He claimed that the invitation was presented as an opportunity to take part in a new movie project, adding that he was told he would play a different character from the roles he usually performs.
According to the actor, he accepted the invitation after being informed that his favourite meal was being prepared, including pounded yam, egusi soup with crayfish and bush meat.
Baba Ijesha further narrated that when he arrived at the residence, he met several individuals who were introduced to him as members of a movie production team.
He said he was then instructed to rehearse a scene with a young girl while waiting for the meal, believing it was part of preparations for the supposed film production.
The actor alleged that the situation suddenly changed when a group of people allegedly entered the room and accused him of wrongdoing.
He claimed the incident was a coordinated plan by several individuals who, according to him, wanted him imprisoned.
Baba Ijesha also expressed disappointment with some figures in the entertainment industry, alleging that certain elders and colleagues betrayed him during the controversy.
He added that his time in prison was extremely difficult and said the experience significantly affected his life.
The case attracted widespread public attention in 2021 after Adekoya accused the actor of sexually assaulting her 14-year-old foster daughter, a development that generated strong reactions across social media and the Nigerian entertainment sector.
Among those who publicly supported calls for justice for the minor was Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, who was vocal during the campaign demanding accountability.
Following the trial, a Lagos court sentenced the actor to several prison terms which were ordered to run concurrently for offences connected to the 2021 incident.
Later, the Lagos State Ministry of Justice clarified that the actor’s eventual release was not due to an acquittal.
The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Lagos State, Lawal Pedro, explained that the Court of Appeal of Nigeria upheld the conviction related to the 2021 case, although it set aside some allegations linked to earlier years.
He stressed that Baba Ijesha regained freedom only after completing the jail term imposed by the court.
Despite the legal rulings and official clarifications, the actor maintained in his song that he was innocent and insisted that the events that led to his imprisonment were orchestrated against him.
The release of the song has since triggered renewed discussions online, with many Nigerians revisiting the highly publicised case that once dominated conversations in the country’s film industry.
