The All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected reports claiming that Vice President Kashim Shettima may be replaced as President Bola Tinubu’s running mate ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing the claims as unfounded.
In a statement on Monday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said the reports were speculative, false and lacked any factual basis, warning media organisations against giving prominence to rumours from unreliable sources.

The ruling party stressed that political activities are currently restricted by law and electoral guidelines, noting that its focus remains on supporting President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima in delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda and ongoing reforms.
The APC said its priority is to improve the welfare of Nigerians and consolidate policies aimed at national development, rather than engage in premature political discussions.
The party also urged ministers, top government officials and party leaders to avoid actions or statements capable of fuelling unnecessary speculation, calling on them to concentrate on effective service to both the government and the party.
