Woman Lynched Over Alleged Blasphemy in Niger State

The incident happened over the weekend in Kasuwan-Garba, Mariga Local Government Area, after the victim, a food vendor, was accused of making offensive comments in her restaurant.

According to reports, the woman had been taken to the District Head’s palace to prevent mob violence and was later handed over to security operatives for investigation. However, the mob overpowered the operatives and killed her.

The Chairman of Mariga LGA, Abbas Adamu Kasuwan-Garba, confirmed the attack, saying calm had since been restored in the area.

Spokesman of the Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, also confirmed the development.


He said: “The woman was set ablaze before the reinforcement of the security teams. Efforts are ongoing to ensure arrests, investigations, and prosecution.”
