A group of women in the Federal Capital Territory, specifically from the Gwari Indigenous group, have described the FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, as a persistent bully and a blatant hater of the female gender.
In a release made available to the press, the group condemned the Minister’s recent attack on Senator Habibat Ireti Kingibe, the elected Senator of the FCT.
During the flag-off of a bus terminus project at Mabushi in Abuja, the Minister, in a supposed response to the Senator, vulgarly stated that the Senator should “go and hang on a transformer.” The women’s group characterized this language as absurd and deeply disrespectful, especially coming from a member of the Federal Executive Council.
To that end, the women’s group has called on President Tinubu to rein in his “ranting dog,” asserting that such behaviour will not be tolerated in the FCT as it may have been in Rivers State.
They further condemned the Minister for his consistent confrontations and for sidelining an elected Senator in all official events within the FCT.
The women’s group emphasized that such actions undermine democratic principles and the respect due to elected representatives, particularly female leaders.
They stressed the importance of fostering a respectful and inclusive political environment where gender discrimination has no place.
