Popular actor and filmmaker, Femi Adebayo, has shared how he left the legal profession to pursue a full-time career in acting.
Adebayo, who holds a Master’s Degree in Law from the University of Ibadan, said he was earning N20,000 monthly as a practising lawyer before he realised that his true passion was in the entertainment industry.
Speaking in an interview, the actor explained that his decision to leave law was influenced by a surprising pay offer from an acting gig.
“Honestly speaking, that was when I started working as a lawyer. My salary then was just N20,000 per month. And acting was just a hobby for me at the time,” he said.
He continued: “Then I was invited for an acting role and was offered N50,000 for just three days. As a lawyer, I was earning N20,000 for 30 days. That was when I told myself, ‘Femi, acting is your calling.’ I decided to abandon law and go fully into entertainment.”
The decision marked a turning point in Adebayo’s career, as he went on to become a household name in Nollywood, especially in the Yoruba movie industry.
His journey into acting was also influenced by his family background, being the son of veteran actor and filmmaker, Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello.
