VISA DENIAL: Interior Minister Condemns Canada’s Action

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily yesterday, Tunji-Ojo described the action as disrespectful to Nigeria and unacceptable.

“Without knowing the full facts, I believe reciprocity must be considered. While we respect the sovereignty of other nations regarding visa and migration policies, this is not just an affront to the Chief of Defence Staff but also to Nigeria as a whole,” he stated.

The minister questioned why Canada did not use diplomatic channels if there were any concerns about the visa application.

“If this can happen to the Chief of Defence Staff, then I am worried for the average Nigerian,” he added.

Tunji-Ojo expressed confidence that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would address the issue diplomatically to ensure mutual respect between both nations.
