
Ekiti State has lost one of its pioneering broadcasters, Christianah Ademulegun, fondly known as Eye Opitan.
Her son, Femi Ademulegun, confirmed in a statement that she passed away in the early hours of Thursday after a brief illness.
A retired broadcaster from the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State (BSES), Eye Opitan later worked as a consultant for private radio stations.
Renowned for her melodious voice and unique style of chanting Ekiti eulogies and praise poetry, she was a cultural icon in the media space.
She was 74 and is survived by children and grandchildren.
