At least 1,450 people have been confirmed dead after back-to-back earthquakes struck Venezuela last Wednesday, triggering a national emergency and mass displacement across affected regions.
President said on Saturday that displaced families would be housed in temporary camps as authorities scale up relief operations. The government is mobilizing shelter, food, medical teams, and engineers to the worst-hit areas.

“Our priority is to protect lives and provide safe shelter for all citizens who have lost their homes,” the president said.
Rescue teams and civilians are still digging through rubble in search of missing relatives, with hopes of finding survivors dimming four days after the quakes. Hospitals and morgues in affected states are overwhelmed, while roads and bridges remain impassable in several communities.
The earthquakes, which struck in rapid succession last Wednesday, are among the deadliest in Venezuela’s recent history.
Officials have called for international assistance to support recovery efforts, citing urgent needs for medical supplies, clean water, and structural assessments.
