Protests broke out across several European cities on Saturday as demonstrators expressed their displeasure with U.S. President Donald Trump and his adviser, Elon Musk.
The protests followed a turbulent week for global financial markets, triggered by President Trump’s announcement of sweeping international tariffs.
In Berlin, Protesters urged fellow Americans in Germany to speak out against what they described as chaos in the U.S. Slogans targeting Musk included, “Shut up Elon, no one voted for you.” A dog at the rally wore a sign that mocked Musk’s government initiative, saying, “Dogs against the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).”
In Frankfurt, Germany, the rally was reportedly organised by Democrats Abroad, the official arm of the U.S. Democratic Party for Americans living overseas. Protesters gathered at Opernplatz, carrying placards that read: “Restore Democracy”, “Hands off our personal data” and “The world is tired of your bullshit Donald, be gone!”
Meanwhile, in Paris, France, about 200 people, mostly American citizens, converged at Place de la République to protest against the Trump administration’s recent policies and actions.
The demonstrations reflect growing discontent among U.S. citizens abroad and their allies, as concerns over governance and international relations continue to mount.
