U.S. to Close Abuja Embassy, Lagos Consulate Office

The U.S. Mission in Nigeria announced the closure via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, stating that the federal holiday is dedicated to honouring American military personnel who lost their lives in service to the nation.

Memorial Day, marked annually on the last Monday of May, is observed across the United States with solemn ceremonies, flag displays, and tributes to fallen heroes.

All routine consular services at the embassy and consulate will be suspended for the day. Normal operations are expected to resume on Tuesday, May 27.

The U.S. Mission advised those with emergency consular needs to visit its website for appropriate contact details.
