The U.S. Supreme Court has cleared the Trump administration to end deportation protections for nationals of Syria and Haiti, allowing the government to resume removal proceedings for thousands of affected individuals.

The Court’s decision removes Temporary Protected Status, TPS, safeguards that had shielded the nationals from deportation due to unsafe conditions in their home countries. The ruling marks a significant shift in U.S. immigration policy and is expected to impact families, communities and advocacy groups nationwide.
Immigration attorneys and rights organizations say the move will create uncertainty for beneficiaries who have lived, worked and built families in the U.S. under the protections for years.
