
The United States military has reportedly developed contingency plans for possible military action in Nigeria, following President Donald Trump’s directive to prepare responses over alleged killings of Christians in the country.
A report published by The New York Times on Wednesday, titled “U.S. Military Draws Up Nigeria Plans, With Limited Options to Quell Violence,” revealed that the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) had submitted its proposed strategies to the Department of War earlier in the week.
According to the report, the plans outline three levels of response — light, medium and heavy — with the “heavy option” described as the most forceful approach the U.S. military could take against Nigeria.
