Two Oko FedPoly Alumni Die in Anambra Hostel Collapse as Bodies of Vivian, Ifeanyi Recoverered

The 60-room building caved in late Sunday night, July 26, 2026, killing the couple who had just returned to visit the school area.

Vivian, a baker, and Ifeanyi, 28, popularly known as “Don Cash”, a Moniepoint PoS machine distributor, were both graduates of Federal Polytechnic Oko.

According to friends, Ifeanyi had visited Vivian at her hostel at about 10:45 p.m. that night. The visit, intended to be brief, ended in tragedy when the building collapsed hours later.

Rescue workers and local volunteers spent days combing through the debris before the bodies were pulled out on Tuesday.

Tributes have poured in across social media from friends, coursemates, and business associates who described the deceased as hardworking, ambitious, and focused on building a future together.

“They were young people with big dreams. Vivian was building her baking business while Ifeanyi was expanding his PoS network. It’s painful that it ended like this,” a close friend wrote on Facebook.

The Elite 5-Star Hostel, located near the Polytechnic gate, is one of several private hostels housing students and alumni around the Oko campus.

Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the cause of the collapse. The incident has reignited calls for proper structural audits of student hostels around tertiary institutions in Anambra State.

The remains of Vivian and Ifeanyi have been deposited at a morgue in the area, pending burial arrangements.
