United States President, Donald Trump, has introduced a new residency permit known as the “Gold Card,” which will be sold for $5 million per applicant.
Speaking aboard Air Force One on Thursday, Trump displayed a prototype of the card, which bears his image and the inscription “The Trump Card.”
Trump stated that the special visa could be available within two weeks.
“I’m the first buyer,” he said. “Pretty exciting, huh?”
The new initiative, according to the President, is designed to attract job creators and help reduce the US national deficit.
He described it as a high-priced alternative to the traditional green card and a pathway to US citizenship.
Trump, who has prioritized deporting undocumented migrants in his second term, had earlier hinted that his administration might sell up to a million of the cards.
The President did not rule out the possibility of Russian oligarchs being eligible.
