A popular man of God, Pastor Tope Orolu has hailed the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji over the recent transfer of the electricity regulatory oversight by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to the Ekiti State Electricity Regulatory Bureau in line with the Electricity Act 2023.
In a statement made available to journalists, Orolu described the development as a significant milestone and major shift in the Nigerian power sector development that is highly commendable.
“I thereby extend my commendations and congratulations to our amiable governor, H.E Biodun Oyebanji and the Ekiti State Government for this measurable achievement among many other achievements in the first term of his administration.
“By this development, the State government through the Electricity Regulatory Bureau now has the responsibility for regulating Electricity generation, transmission and distribution within the State.
“This we hope will serve as the necessary elixir to unlock investments into the power sector that should lead to improved service delivery and needed industrialization in the state. We cannot overemphasise the importance of Electricity to the growth and development of the state.
“Governor Oyebanji has demonstrated his commitment to improving the well-being of our dear state by his many people oriented programs and initiatives. It is no surprise that he has been nominated to receive the Governor of the Year Award on Community Development by the Independent Newspapers Group. We congratulate him on this recognition and wish him well in his future endeavours.
“May our beloved State continue to grow in leaps and bounds in Jesus Name”. Amen!
