
Nigeria’s world record holder, Tobi Amusan, settled for silver in the women’s 100m hurdles at the World Championships in Tokyo on Monday.
Amusan, the defending champion, clocked 12.29 seconds to finish behind Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambundji, who stormed to a shock gold medal in a new national record of 12.24 seconds.
American Grace Stark took bronze in 12.34 seconds, while Olympic champion Masai Russell of the United States placed fourth in 12.44 seconds.
Amusan had claimed the world title in 2022 in Eugene, where she set the current world record of 12.12 seconds.
