Tinubu To Attend John Mahama’s Inauguration In Ghana

The announcement was made in a statement issued on Sunday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. Titled President Tinubu to Attend the Inauguration of John Mahama, President-elect of Ghana, the statement highlighted the strong personal and bilateral ties between the two leaders and their nations.

Mahama, who previously served as Ghana’s 12th president from 2011 to 2017, was reelected in December 2024. He will succeed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, whose tenure spanned from 2017 to 2025.

“President Tinubu’s trip follows an earlier visit by the Ghanaian President-elect to Nigeria in December. The longstanding relationship between the two leaders reflects the enduring partnership between Nigeria and Ghana,” Onanuga noted.

As Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, President Tinubu will join other African leaders at the historic ceremony. He will be accompanied by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and other senior government officials.

This marks President Tinubu’s second visit to Ghana since assuming office, further underscoring Nigeria’s commitment to fostering regional cooperation and unity.
