President Bola Tinubu has signed into law the South-West Development Commission Bill, the South-South Development Commission Bill, and the Nigeria Anti-Doping Bill, 2025.
The Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters, Basheer Lado, announced this in a statement, highlighting the significance of the legislations in fostering inclusive governance, regional development, and Nigeria’s global standing in sports.
Lado stated that the establishment of the South-West and South-South Development Commissions underscores Tinubu’s commitment to economic growth, infrastructure development, and regional empowerment. He noted that with this move, the President has further demonstrated his dedication to driving progress across all parts of the country.
He explained that the commissions would serve as key drivers for industrial expansion, job creation, and social development, ensuring that every region benefits from the government’s development agenda.
On the Nigeria Anti-Doping Bill, 2025, Lado said the legislation aligns with international best practices by domesticating the UNESCO International Convention Against Doping in Sports. He emphasized that the law would promote fairness and integrity in Nigerian sports while protecting athletes from unethical practices.
