Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has praised celebrity chef Hilda Baci for setting a new Guinness World Record for cooking the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice.
In a congratulatory message issued in Abuja, Mrs Tinubu described Baci’s achievement as a demonstration of what young Nigerian women can accomplish through hard work, creativity and determination.
“Your passion, resilience and creativity in showcasing your craft as a Celebrity Chef of one of Nigeria’s most loved dishes on the global stage is inspiring,” the First Lady said.
She added that the record-breaking feat had not only brought pride to the country but also earned Baci international recognition. “Through this feat, you have shown what young Nigerian women can accomplish with hard work, determination and power of innovation,” she said, while praying for greater accomplishments for the chef and other Nigerian youth.
Guinness World Records on Friday confirmed that Baci prepared the world’s largest serving of jollof rice, weighing 8,780 kilogrammes (19,356 lb 9 oz), during an event in Victoria Island, Lagos, in partnership with Gino.
This is not Baci’s first Guinness title. In May 2023, she achieved global fame after cooking for 93 hours 11 minutes to claim the record for the longest cooking marathon.
