The President of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has directed the Attorney General of the Federation to take all necessary steps to secure the immediate release of minors held by the Nigeria Police in connection with #EndBadGovernance protests.
Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, disclosed this while briefing State House correspondents, on Monday.
The Minister was flanked by the Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy; Sunday Dare, Special Adviser on Public Communications and orientation.
Additionally, he said the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs has been tasked with facilitating the safe return of the minors to their families.
Idris added that an investigation had also been launched to examine the circumstances surrounding their extended detention.
There have been outcry that some minors were among those arrested during the #EndBadGovernance protest and arraigned in court recently.
Four of the minors reportedly collapsed in court few days ago.
