President Bola Ahmed Tinubu met in Paris with a representative of the current U.S. administration under President Donald Trump to discuss the development of a strategic economic and security partnership between Nigeria, Africa, and the United States.
A statement by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed that the U.S. delegation was led by Mr. Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor on Africa in President Trump’s administration.
The meeting focused on building stronger ties based on mutual respect, economic cooperation, and regional peace.
“President Trump’s representative conveyed the U.S. leader’s strong interest in deepening direct engagement with Nigeria as a cornerstone of U.S.-Africa relations,” the statement read.
The delegation expressed the Trump administration’s readiness to work closely with President Tinubu to boost American investments in Nigeria and across Africa, especially in key sectors such as energy, infrastructure, trade, and job creation.
Both sides also exchanged views on regional stability, with emphasis on the ongoing conflict in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and security concerns across the Sahel region.
According to the statement, the U.S. team recognised Nigeria’s leadership role on the continent and expressed support for Tinubu’s commitment to stabilising strategic areas in Africa.
President Tinubu, in his remarks, reaffirmed Nigeria’s openness to partnerships with the United States, anchored on transparency, mutual benefit, and shared goals that position Africa as a key player in the global economy.
