Tinubu approves establishment of new university

The Vice President disclosed this over the weekend during a condolence visit to the Kukah family following the death of Yohanna Kukah, the Agwom Akulu of Ikulu Chiefdom. The announcement was made through a statement on Monday by Shettima’s spokesperson, Stanley Nkwocha, titled ‘President Tinubu Okays Establishment of Federal Varsity in Southern Kaduna.’

Additional Development Plans

Shettima also revealed ongoing discussions to set up a Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, as part of the administration’s commitment to developing the region.

“With Senator Katung and the member of the House of Representatives, we have reached out to President Bola Tinubu, and he has consented to the establishment of a federal university in Southern Kaduna,” Shettima stated during his visit to the Ikulu Kingdom in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area.

Commitment to Security and Development

The Vice President highlighted the administration’s attention to Southern Kaduna’s development, citing the appointment of General Christopher Musa as Chief of Defence Staff as a demonstration of the President’s commitment to the region’s security.

“Be rest assured that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has the people of Kaduna and the people of Southern Kaduna at heart,” Shettima said.

He also lauded Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for fostering inclusive governance and pledged Federal Government collaboration with the state to improve infrastructure, particularly road networks, in the region.

Gratitude from the Kukah Family

Bishop Matthew Kukah, representing the Kukah family, expressed appreciation for the Vice President’s visit and commitment to the community.

“I want to thank you on behalf of this family. You can see the nature of the place in which we live. It took you around three and a half hours to get here. The road is largely broken,” he said.

Kukah also expressed hope for ongoing friendship and support from the Federal Government, adding, “I know you will remain a friend of this Ikulu nation and a friend of this community.”

The approval of the federal university is seen as a significant step towards enhancing educational opportunities and fostering development in Southern Kaduna.
