Tinubu Accepts Endorsement as APC Sole Candidate

The endorsement came on Thursday from key organs of the ruling party — including the APC Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), the National Working Committee (NWC), and the party’s National Assembly caucus — at the APC National Policy Summit held at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja. The summit was themed “Renewed Hope Agenda: The Journey So Far.”

Addressing party leaders and members, President Tinubu expressed gratitude for the show of support, assuring Nigerians that his economic reforms are yielding results.

“With your support, your resilience, and belief in our democracy, we will continue this journey. The ‘carry-go’ message today is clear — I know the road, and we will reach the Promised Land together,” he said.

Reflecting on the past two years since assuming office, Tinubu acknowledged the economic challenges inherited by his administration and the tough policy decisions taken, including the removal of petrol subsidy and the unification of foreign exchange windows.

“We could no longer afford to mortgage the future of our children and unborn generations,” he said. “You don’t commit abortion after birth — that is murder,” he added, justifying the decision to scrap fuel subsidies.

The President noted that while these reforms were met with resistance, especially from powerful elites, they have already started attracting foreign investment and strengthening macroeconomic indicators.

“They fought us with everything, but we did not back down. Today, the selfish elites must acknowledge the courage and perseverance of ordinary Nigerians,” he said.

Tinubu also highlighted anti-corruption efforts, citing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)’s recovery of over 750 properties from a single individual. He described the previous arbitrage in the foreign exchange market as the “grandmother and father of corruption.”

On legislative collaboration, he urged the National Assembly to expedite the passage of critical tax reform bills. “I hope the bills will soon be on their way,” he told lawmakers in attendance.

He assured citizens that redirected funds from subsidy removal are now being invested in priority sectors like healthcare, education, and infrastructure. “We have taken money away from speculators and greedy cartels and channeled it to where it truly matters,” he stated.

Acknowledging the hardships citizens face, the President pleaded for continued patience and faith. “We must not despair. It is not the easy way out to bankrupt our country. Let us persevere for the right reasons,” he urged.

He also admitted that gaps still exist in basic amenities such as potable water and pledged to tackle these deficits urgently.

To loyal party members, Tinubu appealed for understanding over political appointments. “Some of you have not been offered positions yet — be patient. More opportunities will come, and you will be proud of being part of this party,” he assured.

Reaffirming his commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda, the President called for unity and national renewal, saying: “We are progressives. We are one family. If we’ve achieved this much in two years, imagine what’s possible in the years to come. We have the mission, and we have the vision.”
