“Teachers Are The Frontline Against Gender-Based-Violence”   — Hon Akin Rotimi             …. Empowers Teachers In Ekiti North 1

A member and Chairman, House Committee on Media at the Federal House of Representatives, representing Ekiti North Federal Constituency 1, Hon. Akin Rotimi, has empowered teachers in his constituency on capacity development for inclusive and qualitative education. 

The two-day programme, tagged ‘Leaving No One Behind Capacity Development Programme for Teachers 1.0 in Ekiti North 1 Federal Constituency’ with the theme: ‘Strengthening Foundations of Practice, was done in conjunction with NurtureHouse Consulting. 

According to Hon. Rotimi, the development of teachers is not a privilege but their rights adding that his developmental strategies will extend to other sectors of the economy. 

He charged the teachers to be at the frontline in the fight against Gender-Based-Violence and get equipped with the modern trends for effective teaching and learning.

His words: “Teachers development is not a privilege but a right. It is something that is absolutely necessary. I want to make sure that everyday is meaningful to you. I have so far sponsored 4 bills in the House, moved 2 motions and championed 2 petitions that were successful. I was appointed as Chairman, House Committee on Media.

“The idea of leaving no-one behind is my consistent strategy by ensuring that development starts from the back. We will start working on projects that we will put into the annual budget and not wait till next year. We hope to do it in the health sector, treat the elderly and People with Disabilities.

“We realised that teachers are the frontline against Gender-Based-Violence. I hope that teachers in Oye and Ikole take it as one of their mission statements against GBV. We depend on you teachers to be at the frontline battle against GBV. It is only the beginning. We will do so many things.”

The CEO, NurtureHouse Consulting, Ayopeju Njideaka urged the teachers to embrace the rapid advancements and evolving educational landscapes to fortify the foundations of teaching practices. 

According to her, “Let this programme serve as a compass, guiding you to navigate the complexities of modern education while staying rooted in the enduring principles that have and will continue to shape the world.”

In his goodwill message, the Chairman of Oye Local Government Area, LGA, Sunday Ajimoko tasked the teachers to practice what they have been taught by impacting positively in the lives of children in the constituency.

Similarly, the All Progressives Congress, Chairman in Oye LGA, Hon. Samuel Ogunsakin appreciated the Rep member for the giant strides towards the development of Ekiti North 1 Federal Constituency.
