The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, (RCCG) Pastor Adejare Adeboye will lead other dignitaries to the official coronation of the 21st Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Afolabi Olaoye.
The Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Professor Adesola Adepoju, disclosed this at a press conference to roll out the programme of event held at Ogbomoso Recreation Club on Tuesday.
The weeklong event, according to the committee will kick off with empowerment programme worth N150million to selected sons and daughters of the five local government in Ogbomoso geo-political zone on Thursday, December 14 at the Palace of Soun of Ogbomosoland.
The empowerment programme, which is borne out the desire of Oba Olaoye to eradicate poverty would present fridge, freezer, generators, among other materials.
“Governor Seyi Makinde will present staff of office to Oba Olaoye on Tuesday, December 19 at Ogbomoso Township stadium.
“We are expecting dignitaries from all walks of life. Lots of traditional rulers, Kings, representatives from the government at all levels, serving and former governors, captains of Industry and members of the diplomatic corps.
“We are already working with the different arms of security agencies to provide adequate security for lives and properties during the events as well as travel routes which will be issued later.”
The coronation committee chairman added that Pastor Adejare Adeboye would lead other anointed men of God at the Interdenominational Coronation Church service at Beulah Centre on Sunday, while Praise and Concert will hold on Monday at LAUTECH.
The Chairman stated that Jumat service would hold on Friday at the Palace, while Oba Olaoye Golf Tournament and Traditional celebration with entertainment will hold on Saturday, December 16.
Governor Makinde approved the selection of Prince Afolabi Olaoye of Olaoye Ruling House on September 2, after duly selected by the kingmakers in Ogbomoso.
Oba Olaoye emerged as the successor of late King Oba Jimoh Oladunni Oyewumi, Soun Ajagumgbade 111.
On September 8, the kingmakers in Ogbomoso led by Areago of Ogbomoso, High Chief Sobalaje Otolorin installed Prince Olaoye as the new Soun of Ogbomoso at Abata.
Also, on Thursday, September 14, the Ikije was held in Ogbomoso palace amidst large turnout of sons and daughters of Ogbomosoland.
