
Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance has secured a resounding victory in the Anambra State governorship election, according to official results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The Returning Officer, Prof. Edogah Omoregie, who is the Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, declared Soludo winner after he polled the highest number of votes and met all legal requirements.
Results released by INEC from the 21 local government areas show that APGA scored a total of 422,664 votes, while the All Progressives Congress finished second with 99,445 votes. The Young Progressives Party followed with 37,753 votes, and the Labour Party came fourth with 10,576 votes. The African Democratic Congress recorded 8,208 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party managed 1,401 votes, placing sixth overall.
A breakdown of the figures indicates that Soludo dominated across the three senatorial districts of the state. In Dunukofia Local Government, APGA recorded 14,892 votes, leaving APC with 3,284, Labour Party with 71, and PDP with 16. Njikoka delivered 22,213 votes to APGA, while APC secured 5,687.
In Awka North, APGA had 15,895 votes against APC’s 3,661, while in Soludo’s home council, Aguata, the ruling party recorded a commanding 35,559 votes, ahead of APC’s 4,125 and YPP’s 2,746. The trend continued in Orumba South and Orumba North, where APGA polled 19,818 and 24,664 votes respectively, maintaining wide leads over APC’s 2,828 and 2,615.
Oyi Local Government gave APGA 18,882 votes, followed by APC with 5,118 and Labour Party with 3,641. In Anambra East, APGA led with 14,665 votes, while APC scored 3,108 and YPP obtained 6,153. Similarly, Anyamelum recorded 13,340 votes for APGA and 7,478 for APC.

The pattern of results shows that APGA maintained a comfortable lead in all the 21 local government areas, often by margins exceeding 20,000 votes. Even in LGAs where the APC performed relatively well, Soludo retained a decisive advantage.
Observers say the outcome reflects broad voter confidence in the governor’s leadership and the enduring strength of APGA in Anambra politics. Since assuming office, Soludo has prioritised infrastructure renewal, job creation, and grassroots development, policies that appear to have resonated with the electorate.
