By Ayodele Abere

Senator Adaramodu made the appeal over the weekend while speaking with journalists at his country home, Ilawe-Ekiti in Ekiti South West Local Government Area of Ekiti State during the Ilawe Unity Day 2024,

The Senate Media person explained that there’s going to be public hearing about it at the National Assembly where he said everybody would come to defend and that the aggregate of the views are what the National Assembly would consider in taking position.

The Senator stressed that the tax reform bill would exclude the low income earners from paying tax. “Can we say that is retrogressive? It is not”. The  tax reform bill is going to make sure that there’s no multiple taxation anymore in Nigeria whereby different levels of government would tax.

“Now we are delineating it so that whatever is taxed by the federal government will not be taxed again by the State and once it is taxed by the State, it won’t be taxed again by the local government” Adaramodu explained.

Adding that the only new area that is there in the bill is about the Value Added Tax (VAT), which according to him is purely based on consumption, saying where there’s high population and they consume a lot of commodities, that more VAT will be generated in such place and that, it’s better and fair for the people that pay more VAT to enjoy more.

Speaking on Ilawe Unity Day 2024, Senator Yemi Adaramodu said it’s memorable, fantastic, eventful, stress-free and culturally embedded.

“You can see how joyous and happy the people are. The sons and daughters of Ilawe-Ekiti, friends of Ilawe-Ekiti, male and female in-laws of Ilawe-Ekiti, well-wishers all over the country and outside the country. They are all around to rejoice with Ilawe on yet another milestone of crossing another year of progress and living together in peace, in harmony without ranccuor under the traditional leadership of His Royal Majesty, Oba Ajibade Alabi, the Alawe of Ilawe-Ekiti and those of us who are the subjects gathered together today like we always do annually.

“Today, we have come to showcase what we have culturally, what we have done and the milestone we have reached in developmental strides of Ilawe-Ekiti, and to appreciate government on behalf of our sons and daughters that are in various positions in government.

“We thank God for sparing our lives and we know that by this time next year, when we are gathering together again, it’s going to be another song of praise to God Almighty, and it’s going to be another welcome and warm embrace among all of us”. Said the distinguished Senator.
