
The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Adeoye Aribasoye has charged the legislative staff of the House to exhibit total loyalty and commitment to their duties while in the active service.

This he said would serve as a way to strengthen the system and complement the recent development in the legislative arm.
The Speaker gave the charge during the send off ceremony for the Eighty four year old Pioneer Director of the legislative department in the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Mr Olabimpe Okunbolade and eleven other directors, who retired from the legislative service within the last twenty four years.
The Chairman Committee on public affairs Hon. Lateef Akanle who represented the Speaker, at the event held within the Assembly premises commended the retired directors for their dedication, commitment and loyalty during their active days.

He spoke on the challenges encountered by the retired directors during their active years which have become veritable platforms for the growth of the legislative service in recent times, as he recalled the good gesture of the current assembly in setting a good model of celebrating those who have served the system.
The event had in attendance the Chairman of Ekiti State House of Assembly Service Commission Hon (Engr) Kayode Fasakin, board members of the Assembly Service Commission, Executive Secretary, Mr Tolu Afolabi, Body of Deputy Clerks; Mrs Modupe Ola, Mr Opeyemi Ajibola, Mrs Omotosho, all the directors and all other legislative staff.

While delivering his speech at the event, the Chairman of the Commission, Hon Fasakin, congratulated the celebrants and expressed happiness on the leadership style of the Speaker, reiterating that the event has long been overdue.
He commended the Speaker for making the celebration a reality and equally applauded the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for giving the legislative arm an enabling environment.

In her remarks, the Clerk of the House, Mrs Titilope Agbede, applaudable the retired directors for the values they added to the system, charging serving legislative staff to be diligent, dedicated to every activity assigned to them in their various departments.
A minute silence was observed in the memory of one of the departed retired directors, late Owoeye Abiodun, a former director of legislative department.

The Chairman of the Association of retired Legislative workers, Mr Daralegbe Ogunmola thanked the visioner, the Speaker, Rt Hon Aribasoye for his passion for the growth of the legislative service, describing the event as another milestone for the Speaker, the Chairman House of Assembly Service Commission and the Clerk of the House.
The Chairman solicited more support from the management and intimated the gathering with the inauguration of the association which took place in April 2025 and the proposed maiden Get together party of the Association slated for 18th December, 2025.

In his goodwill message at the event, the former Clerk of the House, Rev Akintunde Famoyegun, appreciated the selfless service of the 7th Assembly as he equally praised Pa Okubolade and other retired directors for their exemplary dedication and commitment during their time in the service.
Responding on behalf of the retirees, Mr Okunbolade who enjoined current staff to embrace diligence, thanked God for witnessing the occasion and appreciated the Speaker and other members of the 7th Assembly for giving them opportunity to be celebrated.

In his sermon, Pastor Segun Ajigbena admonished the celebrants on the importance of using their time judiciously, adding that all the past directors have sacrificed their time and resources for the growth of the system.
The retired directors include Mrs Olajumoke Dayo-Ojo, Alade Johnson Odunayo, Okunbolade Olabimpe, Ifedola Adebayo, Sunday Omojemite and Adewale Adeleye

Others are Oladeji Ologunde, Gbenga Igotun, Olonitola Akinwande, Florence Eniola and the late Abiodun Owoeye who was represented by his daughter Funmilayo Owoeye.
Highlights of the event was the presentation of gifts to the celebrants by the Chairman Assembly Service Commission, Clerk of the House and the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria,(PASAN) Ekiti State chapter.
