The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has announced plans to challenge the Federal Government in court over the state of emergency declared in Rivers State by President Bola Tinubu.
President Tinubu recently suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, Ngozi Odu, and members of the state House of Assembly for six months, appointing Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas (retd.) as Sole Administrator.
Describing the move as unconstitutional, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, in his bi-weekly newsletter, The Business of Governance (Issue 110), condemned the suspension of democratic governance in Rivers State. He emphasized that all well-meaning Nigerians must reject such actions.
Makinde stated that the PDP governors, after an emergency meeting, resolved to challenge the decision in court, insisting that democracy must be protected. He called on Nigerians to stand up for justice, fairness, and equity.
