Kano State Hisbah Board has called on motorists and other road users to adhere strictly to traffic rules to minimise Road Traffic Crashes (RTC) within the state.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Board, Alhaji Lawan Ibrahim on Thursday in Kano.

The Commander General of the Board, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim-Daurawa, stated this while playing host to the Managing Director, Kano State Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA), who led the management team on a courtesy visit to Hisbah headquarters in Kano.

According to the statement, obeying roads traffic rules is in line with Islamic teachings on protection of lives and properties.

He said that adhering to traffic rules and regulations would reduce loss of lives and properties across the state.

Ibrahim-Daurawa said the board will collaborate with KAROTA, to organise a senstisation programme on traffic control.

He explained that the programme would minimise speed on roads and reckless driving.

The Commander General assured that the board would redeploy hisbah personnel to major roads, markets, mosques and schools with a view to curb the excesses of road users.

Earlier, KAROTA Managing Director, Alhaji Faisal Mahmud-Kabir, said the visit was to solicit and collaborate in areas of educating the general public to avoid accidents, speeding and maintaining law and order.

He urged the board to set up special Da’awa unit, across ministries and departments in the state to curtail societal vices.

Mahmud-Kabir said the agency had intercepted three vehicles loaded with assorted bottles of beer along Zaria-Kano road.
