Quality Service Delivery Remains Our Hallmark At Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti —  CMD

The Chief Medical Director, Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido- Ekiti, Ekiti State, Professor Kunle Ajayi, has reiterated the commitment of continued quality healthcare services to the public.

The hospital boss gave this assurance while interacting with members of the Online Media Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ekiti State Chapel in his office during a courtesy visit. 

The Professor of note who stated that the purpose establishing the hospital was to give quality treatment to patients, affirmed that the hospital has sufficient equipment and competent Medical personnel that could handle all manners of ailments.

Commending the Federal Government for providing the hospital with the needed facilities which the CMD said has helped the hospital to deliver on its mandate, he promised that the hospital would continue to improve on its services through effective collaborations and networking for optimum performance.

Noting that government alone cannot provide everything needed in the hospital, the Chief Medical Director, highlighted the workable initiatives put in place by the management of the hospital in conjunction with relevent stakeholders which according to the CMD are; Indigent Patients Fund, Ward Initiatives, Hospital Infrastructure Development and Capacity Building Initiatives.

In his explanation of what each of the initiatives stands for, Professor Ajayi said inability of some patients to pay hospital bills after treatment prompted the indigents initiatives where staff, members of the public and philanthropists pulled resources together to foot Medical bills of such patients.

While speaking on Ward Initiative, he said eminent personalities visited the hospital and built wards and that they maintain them for efficient service delivery. On hospital infrastructure Development, Ajayi said people donated equipment, structures and materials for the hospital use. Adding that Management and Staff are being trained and retrained for excellence performances in their various fields when it comes to capacity building.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Online Media Chapel of NUJ in the State, Comrade Ayodele Abere, said the courtesy visit was to familiarise with the management of the hospital for collaboration, especially now that the online media have become an indispensable aspect of journalism that could be projecting their activities in a good light on regular basis.

Abere, noted that online platform is now a veritable tool for information dissemination, now that most radio and TV stations could no longer run for longer hours before shutting down. Just as some newspapers also have reduced the number of their pages due to high cost of printing materials which has really affected their regular publication.

“We realize that you have not been patronising us. So, we are here for partnership. The Online medium is very fast, compared to electronic and print. You can share your news using various social media platforms and everybody will read the news anywhere in the world.

“It’s the major platform that can project you well and we are ready to work with you”.

Responding, Professor Kunle Ajayi nodded the versatility of the online platforms and expressed readiness to partner with the Chapel.

However, the CMD enjoined the team not to be one sided in whatever information they are carrying, especially the negative ones without calling to confirm the authenticity of such.

He equally urged that they should always put into consideration the impact their stories could have on the hospital and it’s personnel in most cases.

Professor Kunle Ajayi took his time to take the team through numerous tremendous achievements the hospital has recorded under his administration including training of more than fifty consultants among others. Adding that the Teaching Hospital had received both national and international awards for its qualitative services.
