President Bola Tinubu is set to depart Nigeria on Sunday for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to participate in the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit.
The summit, scheduled to begin on Monday, November 11, 2024, will address pressing issues in the Middle East, with a focus on fostering peace and stability.
The announcement was made by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga on Saturday.
According to the statement, the summit is being held at the invitation of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, following a similar summit hosted in Riyadh last year.
During the summit, President Tinubu is expected to address the ongoing Israel-Palestinian conflict, advocating for an immediate ceasefire and emphasizing Nigeria’s commitment to a peaceful resolution.
He will also highlight the need to reinvigorate efforts towards a two-state solution as a pathway to enduring peace in the region.
Accompanying the President are key officials, including the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar. Other members of his delegation include the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.
