Presidency Dismisses Impeachment Claim Against Senate President

In an official statement, the Presidency reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s dedication to maintaining a cooperative relationship with the Senate, acknowledging the importance of the Senate’s role in advancing legislative goals.

The Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters, Senator Basheer Ladoja, issued the statement titled, “Presidency Committed to Harmonious Working Relationship among Lawmakers in the National Assembly.”

Senator Ladoja reiterated Tinubu’s dedication to ensuring that collaboration is rooted in mutual respect, dialogue, and shared goals for peace, progress, and prosperity for all Nigerians.

The statement read: “The attention of this office has been drawn to online reports suggesting that security agents have been deployed to prevent senators from carrying out their legislative duties, specifically regarding an alleged impeachment of the Senate President.

“I categorically state that these reports are baseless and should be disregarded, as there is no discord among the senators. The legislative body remains united in its commitment to advancing Nigeria’s democracy.

“The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, acknowledges the Senate’s vital role in legislative progress. He remains committed to ensuring that this collaboration is based on mutual respect, dialogue, and shared goals for the peace, progress, and prosperity of all Nigerians.

“The Senate continues to function freely and without interference. Any security presence within the National Assembly Complex is for the routine safety and protection of legislators and staff.

“I urge the public to disregard such unfounded publications that could undermine the integrity of the legislature.”
