Popular Nollywood actress, Lizzy Gold, has publicly expressed her disappointment with her father over what she described as an entitlement mindset after gifting him a significant amount of money during the Easter celebration.
In a now-deleted video shared on Instagram, the actress recounted how she sent her father a surprise cash gift—ten times larger than usual—only to receive a brief “thanks” in response, without the usual prayers she had come to cherish.
“Normally, I love to surprise my father by sending money at night so he wakes up to it. He usually prays for me, and I enjoy those prayers because they motivate me to do more,” she explained.
She said this time around, after receiving a message from him asking for Easter money, she decided to go all out. “At 2 am, I sent him a huge amount, expecting some special prayers. But when I woke up, all I saw was ‘thanks’. No prayers, no blessings.”
Gold said she confronted her father about the lack of appreciation, only to be told that he prayed for her “in his heart.”
Displeased, the actress responded: “Daddy, I don’t pluck money from trees. I work tirelessly for it. I enjoy the prayers. They inspire me.”
She used the moment to speak out against what she termed “entitlement mentality” among some family members, stressing the importance of showing gratitude.
