Controversial Nollywood actor, Uche Maduagwu, has tendered a public apology to music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, admitting that he was paid to attack the singer and his family on social media.
Speaking during a recent interview, Maduagwu said Davido never offended him personally, adding that his actions were motivated by financial inducement rather than any genuine grievance.
The actor disclosed that he received N2.5 million to ridicule the award winning singer, his wife and family members online, noting that he was not alone in the act.
According to him, at least five social media influencers were allegedly involved in the coordinated attacks against Davido, urging others who took part to also come forward and apologise.
“I want to apologise to Davido. I was paid to insult you and your family on social media. I collected N2.5 million for it. I am deeply sorry and I ask for your forgiveness,” Maduagwu said.
He added that his conscience would no longer allow him to keep quiet, describing his actions as wrong and regrettable, while expressing hope that Davido would accept his apology and put the matter behind him.
