Police Probe Death of 80-Year-Old Colombian in Lagos Hotel

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday. He said the discovery was made on Wednesday, May 1, around 3:45 pm.

According to Hundeyin, the deceased had been lodged in the hotel for over four months before his body was found in Room C85 on the 8th floor.

“Upon receiving the distress call, our officers, including homicide detectives, immediately visited the scene. The body was examined and no signs of violence or foul play were found,” he said.

He explained that the body has been moved to the Mainland General Hospital morgue in Yaba for autopsy, and a coroner’s inquest has been opened in line with standard procedure.

The police also questioned some members of the hotel’s management for not properly documenting their guests but later released them pending the outcome of further investigation.

Hundeyin assured that the police would carry out a thorough probe to determine the actual cause of death.
