Plans To Impeach Fubara Heightened

Following a recent Court of Appeal judgment in Abuja, which ruled against the 2024 budget passed by Fubara’s loyalists in the State House of Assembly, the faction led by Martins Amaewhule, loyal to former Governor Nyesom Wike, is reportedly finalizing plans to impeach the governor.

Rumours suggest that these plans have the backing of the Nigeria Police and other security agencies.

It is alleged that several officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force have moved into Port Harcourt, the state capital, and neighboring areas to enforce the impeachment. Reports also claim that there are plans to arrest Governor Fubara under questionable charges and swiftly transfer him to Abuja.

In addition to the governor, Deputy Governor Professor Ngozi Odu is also expected to be impeached. Martins Amaewhule, leader of the Wike faction, is rumored to be positioned as the acting governor once Fubara is removed.

The secondary strategy, or “Plan B,” is for the President and National Assembly to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State should there be any breakdown of law and order during the process.

Further allegations suggest that key political figures in Rivers State, including former Governors , Celestine Omehia and Rufus Ada-George, may face house arrest as part of this clandestine plan.

In response to the escalating situation, a group known as the Dynamic Rivers Indigenes in Diaspora has sent an SOS message to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to intervene and prevent what could become one of the greatest political crises in Nigeria’s history.
