Peter Obi, Jonathan Meet Behind Closed Doors

Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, disclosed the visit in a post on his official X handle, describing the discussion as “fruitful” and focused on the state of the nation.

“Today in Abuja, I met with my very dear elder brother, statesman, and leader, former President Goodluck Jonathan. We had a fruitful closed-door meeting and discussed the state of our dear nation,” Obi wrote.

It was not immediately clear if the meeting touched on the 2027 general elections.

Recently, Bauchi State governor and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, Bala Mohammed, hinted that both Jonathan and Obi were being considered as possible candidates for the PDP in 2027.

Jonathan, whose potential return has sparked constitutional debates, is also reportedly among the names being courted by the opposition coalition led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to challenge President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
