The Permanent Secretary, Osun State Parastatal Monitoring office, Mr. Olusola Bolaji, has described the present management of Osun State College of Technology (OSCOTECH), Esa-Oke, Osun State as visionary leaders whose synergy has resulted in the peace and progress the college is presently enjoying.
Statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Institution, Mr Bayo Ajilore revealed that the PS made the remark during a courtesy visit to the Institution with other Principal Officers of the Parastatal on Monday, 9th October, 2023.
Congratulating the new Chairman, Governing Council of OSCOTECH, Prince Diran Odeyemi on his well deserved appointment, the Permanent Secretary noted that
Osun State has a healthy youthful population which if properly guided, would contribute positively to the development of the State.
Mr. Bolaji said the purpose of the visit was to interface with the College with a view to reporting progress made by the institution to the government and to equally find out areas where the College needs assistance from the government.
Commending the Management of the Institution for progress recorded in academics in terms of innovations, the Permanent Secretary called for re-orientation of youths against travelling abroad for greener pasture, saying they should focus on skills acquisition, which he said would enable them to be less dependant on government in their search for white collar jobs.
In his reaction, the Rector, Dr. Samson Akinbamide Omobayo Adegoke thanked the visitors for their visit. He explained that the courses running in the college are designed to make the students self reliant and not necessarily dependant on white collar jobs. Adding that the college has programmes for upgrading certificates and up skilling personnel for the present workplace challenges.
“The College has enough personnel for short courses, training and re-training of State and Local Government Staff in Town Planning, Surveying and other professional programmes”, said the Rector.
Dr. Adegoke, however highlighted the challenges of the institution to include insufficient funding and shortage of Staff.
The Governing Council Chairman, Prince Diran Odeyemi who received the Permanent Secretary and his entourage also thanked the visitors for deeming it fit to pay the institution a visit.
Prince Diran appreciated the State Governor, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke for appointing him as the Chairman, Governing Council of the College. Just as he equally thanked the Management and Staff of the institution for the good reputation already built.
He therefore promised to support the Institution by ensuring that more progress is made during his tenure.
At the meeting were; the Deputy Rector, Mrs. Cecilia Kehide ljitona, the Registrar, Mr. S.O Popoola and the Bursar, Mr. J.O Makinde
