Popular Fuji musician, Wasiu Alabi, popularly known as Pasuma, has spoken out for the first time following an attack on his convoy in Ikire, Osun State.
The incident, which occurred last Sunday, sparked widespread concern after a viral video showed damage to Pasuma’s vehicles, with a voice in the background claiming, “They carry guns and shoot us, see Pasuma’s car. But God dey.”
However, during a recent live performance, the Fuji icon addressed the situation directly, clarifying what truly happened during his visit to Irewole Local Government Area.
“About what happened in Ikire, I have so many committed fans in Ikire, but there’s no town without such elements (thugs),” he said.
Pasuma explained that the event’s organiser invited him to perform in a local hall, but the turnout was overwhelming.
“The crowd was more than half of the whole town. They all came out to see me physically,” he recounted.
He said that a screen had been set up outside the venue to accommodate those who couldn’t enter the packed hall. However, some members of the crowd insisted on getting inside and became aggressive when stopped by security personnel.
“They started throwing stones when they were not allowed in. That was what led to the damage — it was the stones that broke the windscreen of my Hilux and Hummer bus. There was no shooting,” Pasuma clarified.
The singer expressed gratitude for his fans’ support and reassured the public that he was safe, while also acknowledging that such disruptions sometimes occur due to unruly elements within large crowds.
