
Reliable Statistical data serves as guide for good governance in the Country.
Ekiti state Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Mr. Femi Ajayi revealed this in Ado during a training for Statisticians on National Computation of State Gross Domestic Product (SGDP) and National Business Establishment Survey.
Mr. Femi Ajayi who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Sola Akinluyi emphasized the importance of state gross domestic product computation (SGPP) to the economy and growth of a nation.
According to him, it allows the Country to know the contributions of each state to the national economy, gives room for inter – state comparison, provides data for research analysis, guide policy makers and planners to come up with appropriate initiatives among others.
The Commissioner noted that the Oyebanji’s administration places a high premium on statistical information which serves as an ingredient for effective planning and implementation of policies.
He charged the participants to be dedicated, ensure accuracy in data analysis, noting that the expected knowledge from the training was aimed at strengthening good governance in the Country.
In her remarks, the Acting, Statistician General, Ekiti State Bureau of Statistics, Mrs. Dolapo Ojo said accurate data collection will address the poverty situation in the country.
She congratulated the National and State Bureau of Statistics for the giant strides recorded so far, urging them to keep the flag flying.
