Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji will tomorrow 23rd April, 2025, officially flag-off aircraft photographic coverage to capture the geography of the state as part of the ongoing comprehensive GIS mapping of the State.
The State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, in a statement made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti, revealed that the official flag-off would hold at the State Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport in Ado Ekiti with all members of the State Executive Council in attendance at 10 am.
Rt. Hon. Olatunbosun described the exercise as part of efforts to implement a comprehensive Land Administration solution that would enhance Government’s ability to plan appropriately for residents in the State, among other objectives.
Assuring that all necessary safety measures have been put in place for aerial survey with close monitoring of all activities during the mapping exercise in the interest of public safety as well as the protection of residents and National security as a whole, Olatunbosun highlighted benefits of the exercise to include provision of accurate and reliable geospatial data, which is essential for effective land management, urban planning, and infrastructure development that would empower government to make informed decisions regarding land use, allocation, and development, leading to improved governance and sustainable development.
He added that availability of accurate and up-to-date geospatial data would also provide stakeholders including landowners, property developers, investors, and community organizations, with greater certainty and confidence in their land transactions and investments thus reducing risks associated with land tenure insecurity, boundary disputes, and fraudulent transactions and leading to increased investment in real estate development and infrastructure projects.
