Ekiti State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Erelu Tosin Aluko-Ajisafe has said that the state government is committed to making Ekiti State clean at all time.
Aluko made this known while conducting an inspection round the Ekiti State Waste Management Authority office in Ado Ekiti.
The Commissioner noted that the Biodun Oyebanji-led administration has put necessary measures in place to ensure a clean and hygienic atmosphere all times with the ultimate aim of having an epidemic free environment.
Aluko stressed that the recent approval by the state Governor to purchase three 4X2 Hook Arm Garbage trucks and 20 single CBM bins is part of efforts at maintaining environmental cleanliness in the State.
Reteirating the efforts of the government on cleanliness, Chief Aluko-Ajisafe however stressed the need for residents to avoid indiscriminate dumping of refuse on medians, walkways as well as inside drains and culverts.
Conducting the Commissioner round the offices and premises of the Agency, the Director General of the Agency, Mr. Sunkanmi Onipede showed the Commissioner the state of the equipment, he applauded the state government for the approval of more equipment to enhance service delivery of the authority.
In company of the commissioner were; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Mr. Babatunde Alokan, Director, Environmental Health and Sanitation, Mr. Tunde Balogun and Director, Nature Conservation and Climate Change, Mr. Babatunde Akinola.
