A disturbing video circulating on social media has sparked outrage after showing members of a local vigilante group in Anambra State assaulting a female corps member, identified as Jennifer Edema Elohor, alongside her colleagues.
The video, released by the Haven 360 Foundation on Facebook, captured armed men suspected to be operatives of Operation Udo Ga-Achi, also known as the Agunechemba Vigilante Group, storming a corps lodge on July 23, 2025.
In the footage, the men, some carrying guns, were seen beating and stripping Elohor naked despite her and other corps members displaying their official NYSC identity cards.
The foundation, in a strongly worded statement, condemned the attack as a violation of human rights.
“This brutal assault is unacceptable. The corps members were accused of being ‘Yahoo boys and girls,’ yet even after showing their NYSC IDs, the vigilantes went ahead to humiliate, beat and strip them,” it said.
The statement added that Elohor’s ordeal was “particularly egregious,” as she was left bleeding and subjected to “unsavoury, sexually degrading threats and actions.”
The incident has since triggered anger online, with calls for the Anambra State government, security agencies, and the NYSC authorities to investigate and bring the perpetrators to justice.
