Philanthropist and community leader Otunba Oluwadare Owolabi has awarded scholarships to outstanding students of Iludun Community High School in a move aimed at promoting academic excellence and easing financial barriers to education.
Speaking at the event, the Principal of the school, Mr. B.G. Olajiga, commended Otunba Owolabi for the gesture, describing it as a strong motivation for students across SS1 to SS3 to remain committed to their studies.
Addressing the gathering, Otunba Owolabi shared insights from his personal journey and explained that the Irawo Owuro Foundation was established to support young people and reduce financial constraints to learning. He urged the school management to maintain communication with him to monitor students’ academic performance for possible continued support.
A total of ₦550,000 was awarded to top performers. Five subject best students received ₦100,000 each: Adewumi Marvelous, Mathematics; Laisi Happiness, Chemistry; Toyebi Helen, Biology; Ajayi Deborah, Physics; and Oguntoyinbo Temitope, Yoruba. The best teacher, Mr. Adewale Ayobami, also received ₦100,000, while the best student in Accounting was awarded ₦50,000.
In his closing remarks, the Chairman of the Parents Teachers Association, Chief Ajayi Abiodun, expressed gratitude to Otunba Owolabi for his impactful support to the school community.
