The Ondo State Government has announced the passing of Hon. Tayo Oluwatuyi, popularly known as Tukana, who served as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and former Chairman of Akure South Local Government.
According to a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Wale Akinlosotu, Oluwatuyi was involved in a car accident on Sunday, December 15, 2024, while traveling to Ibadan. He was hospitalized following the incident but later succumbed to his injuries.
Akinlosotu described the late Oluwatuyi as a committed public servant who made significant contributions to the development of Ondo State through his roles in administrative coordination, policy advisory, and implementation.
“He served with distinction, working closely with the Governor and other top officials in Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). Hon. Oluwatuyi will always be remembered for his invaluable contributions to the growth and progress of Ondo State,” Akinlosotu stated.
The Ondo State Government extended its condolences to the Oluwatuyi family, friends, and associates, noting that further details regarding his memorial arrangements will be shared in due course.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State also mourned the loss, describing it as a monumental blow to the Sunshine State.
In a statement, the State APC Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, praised Oluwatuyi as an exemplary leader who upheld principles of equity and fairness.
“His unwavering commitment to the well-being of Ondo State will forever be cherished. On behalf of the party, I express heartfelt condolences to his family, the state government, and the people of Ondo State. May his gentle soul rest in peace. Tukana’s legacy will continue to inspire us,” Adetimehin said.
Hon. Tayo Oluwatuyi’s demise has left a void in Ondo State’s political and administrative landscape, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
