By Bimbo Babalola

Ogun government says it has employed no fewer than 321 medical personnel in the last two years to bridge the shortfall it had experienced as a result of exodus of medical workers in the State.

The Permanent Secretary, Ogun Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Yinka Elemide made this known during the confirmation exercise on Monday in Abeokuta.

She noted that 174 of the personnel were in the senior staff cadre, while those in the junior staff cadre were 147, to render efficient healthcare services to the people.

Represented by the Director of Administration and Supplies of the board, Mr. Olumuyiwa Ojo, the permanent secretary said that officers whose appointments were considered for confirmation by the board had stayed in the service for more than two years.

She added that they have also had four progress evaluation reports with no adverse report before confirmation.

Speaking with journalists after the confirmation exercise, the duo of Dr. Adegeye Eweje and Dr. Omowunmi Moibi from General Hospital, Ikenne, appreciated the government for finding their service worthy by employing them to contribute their quota to the health needs of the state.

A registered nurse, Mrs. Ayomikun Egbetayo commended the state government and leadership of the board for a stress-free exercise.

She said that confirmation of her appointment would motivate her to do more in caring for patients.
